Organise your own!
|
Ideas
|
|
You can organise an event at home, at work, at your local sports or social club, with friends, with
colleagues.
|
|
Here are just some of the ideas that people have used in our area to organise their own fund raising
event for Cancer Research UK:
|
- Sponsored events - walks, swims, cycle rides, marathons, runs, sponsored anything - one boy got
himself sponsored to be quiet for 48 hours!
- Mufti days at school
- Race nights
- Car boot or garage sale - sell your unwanted stuff in aid of Cancer Research
- Business offers - such as the superb support we've had from the Poacher's Pocket restaurant
recently!
- Balls, parties, and so on...
|
Contact us for publicity materials, publicity on this web site, news after the event, Press publicity,
cheque presentations, and all sorts of other ways of attracting people to get involved. And it's just good
to know and support whatever's happening in the area.

Money matters
|
We can supply collecting tins and then bank the money that you collect from your event. An alternative
that you can easily set up is a Cancer Research UK sponsorship web page using JustGiving.com. This has
the additional benefit that it handles Gift Aid, which makes donations up to 28% more valuable.
|
|
How it works:
- You choose your event from Cancer Research UK's official event list, or create your own.
- You fill in your name and address and choose a password. JustGiving.com will not share your
details with anyone except the charity you are raising money for.
- You choose a web address for your page, write a title and a message and, if you have one to
hand, add a photo. That's it, your fundraising web page is live on the Web!
- You then email the address of your page to everyone you know, anywhere in the world. They
donate online by credit or debit card and get an email receipt. JustGiving.com charges a small
transaction fee on donations.
- The money you raise is paid into Cancer Research UK's bank account along with Gift Aid. Your job?
To sit back and watch your total grow - oh, and walk that walk, swim that swim, etc.

like that isn't mentioned, just contact us and ask!
